00 - MATERIALS & METHODS
This course seeks to place the primary materials - wood, masonry, steel, concrete, and glass - within the fundamental context of physical properties, historical evolution, structural behavior, sustainable design, contemporary methods of construction and detailing, building envelope systems, and new and future products. Through a careful study and evaluation of Heatherwick Studio's The Vessel our group was able to mimic the constructing methods and materials used in the project. We believe we are one of the first few groups of students to study the architecture where minimal information was found. We recreated a section of The Vessel into a 1:1 scale study model, where we explore how materials were put together.
